Dublin: Over the previous year, WordPress owner Automattic has started on pages particularly targeting bands, brides, restaurants and even cities. Today, we can finally include photographers to that list.
This new page is meant to attract photographers, designers and visual artists looking to build a quality portfolio where they can display their work. Not that you couldn’t build portfolios using WordPress.com before, but this is the first time the company has reached out to photographers personally, adding them to the list of demographics it’s gone after in the past.
The launch of the all-new vertical comes complete with 30 all-new, top quality themes (both premium and free) that are customizable in the customary ways: you’ll be able to change colors and fonts while also embedding images and audio into a visually attractive template.
Here are some example templates offered through the new vertical.
For an added $30/year you’ll also be given access to the CSS for more complete customization. And for another $60/year paid out to the VideoPress service you’ll be able to embed HD videos as well.
Certainly, there are many alternatives out there when it comes to building a high-quality looking portfolio website. But you can formally add WordPress/Automattic to the list of companies catering directly to photographers.
